Pool Committee

  • Hire the pool manager,

  • approve hiring of pool staff,

  • set wages,

  • work with pool manager in organizing and prepping the pool for the season,

  • help with operation of the mechanical systems of the pool.

  • In the spring

    • pump out the water in the pool and

    • pressure wash and acid clean pool proper before filling,

    • fill the pool with water and start the pool circulation system and pool heater system,

    • wash off the pool parking lot,

    • put up sunshades,

    • set up outdoor sound system,

    • pressure wash the inside of the change house,

    • install gutter drain covers,

    • put up sunshades.

  • During pool operation

    • repair any equipment that doesn't need a specialist to repair,

  • After the pool is closed for the season

    • turn off pool heaters and

    • shut off natural gas to heaters and domestic hot water heater,

    • drain the pool and all piping systems,

    • pressure wash the empty the pool,

    • put carpet down the slope to the deep end so cats that get into the pool in the winter can get out,

    • close bottom drain valve,

    • open gutter valve,

  • After fall cleaning

    • fill pool with 4 feet of water for the winter,

    • drain and blow out the pool water piping systems, domestic and lawn sprinkler system with the city compressor,

    • put snow fence up around the pool to help keep leaves out of the pool,

    • pull pool gutter grates and store in change house, rake and remove leaves from the snow fence and pool one or two times in the fall,

    • move chemicals and equipment that can't freeze from change house and garage to the garage at the city office,

    • pull light bulb from the flag pool spot light,

    • take down sound system speakers and store in office.

    • Turn off water to the pool at the water meter.

    • Open valve near the outside spigot to drain main line to building.

    • Open valve under metal cover just outside the east walk in gate to drain water line from pool house to the pool.

    • Open drain valve on deck near the diving board to drain the return line from bottom of the pool and gutters.
